Nous commençons à bien connaître le nord de chez nous et sa Sunshine Coast alors nous avons décidé d'explorer le Sud, autre que la Gold Coast que nous trouvons un peu trop bling-bling et pan-pan...
Nous voici donc passé la frontière de New South Wales (dont la capitale est Sydney) vers le village alternatif de Byron Bay. (2h de la maison)

We start to know the North of Brisbane and its Sunshine Coast. We want to explore the South, further than the Gold Coast which is bling-bling and has a higher criminality. So here we are passing the boarder of New South Wales (its capital is Sydney) to the alternative town of Byron Bay. (2h from Home)

On y a juste vu des boutiques organiques et beaucup d'artistes... Les hippies modernes... Mais nous étions surtout là pour la PLAGE!!! :-) ...Oui encore... et on n'est pas déçu du voyage. Quelle beauté!

Rainbow Beach (Tourist drives N° 43 - 42 - 22 - 23 - 24)

9/10/2011: For my birthday we decided to drive 3h North to the beautiful Rainbow Beach.

It is the beach on the continent close to the South of Fraser Island (3. on the picture).

Pour mon anniversaire, nous avons décidé de rouler 3h vers le Nord vers Rainbow Beach. C'est proche de Fraser Island (N°3 sur l'image).

The myth:

The name, Rainbow Beach, comes from the colour of the sand dune along the beach. The aboriginal legend tells that a spirit plunged the cliff after a battle with an evil tribesman.

Le nom, plage arc-en-ciel, vient de la couleur des dunes de sables. La légende aboriginale raconte qu'un esprit a plongé de la falaise après un combat avec un vilain.

Tin Can Bay: Calm and beautiful.

We loved driving in the area. I was hoping to see wild horses, Brambies, in the Great Sandy National Park. Queensland is sooo green! If it was a little cooler we could think we were in Bavaria, Germany.

On aime conduire dans la région. On espérait voir des chevaux sauvages, Brambies, dans le parc national. Le Queensland est tellement vert! S'il faisait un peu moins chaud, on se croirait en Bavière.

It's funny, we never drove 6h in a day in our home country... How often did we go to Köln in Germany or Metz in France or Amsterdam in The Netherlands? How far do you go in a weekend?

C'est amusant, nous ne roulions jamais 6h en une journée dans notre plat pays... Combien de fois sommes-nous allé à Cologne (Allemagne), à Metz (France) ou à Amsterdam (Pays-Bas)? Jusqu'où allez-vous dans votre week-end?



Special drive-through

En Belgique, nous avons les drive-through lors ce qu'on veut un burger accompagné d'une frite mais en Australie on peut aussi acheter son alcool sans devoir sortir de sa voiture.

In Belgium we can order a burger with some fries (or chips as they say here) from a drive-through but in Australia we can buy alcohol while staying in our car.

Santa Lucia in Oz

This Sunday my family (from Finland) celebrates "Santa Lucia" in Belgium and it is the first year that we will not be there to enjoy the big family reunion. As we become nostalgic during the holiday season we decided to continue the tradition.

We spent the weekend decorating our house because Christmas is approaching. We found a real tree! We really needed to go to the other side of the world to find such a beautiful dense fluffy tree.

What is Santa Lucia for Nordic European countries?

"Santa Lucia" (13th o December) is the winter-light festival, a celebration of light during the darkest days of the year in Nordic countries. Lux, luci means "light". The horror story is from the 5th century in Sicily where a Christian virgin refused to marry a man who removed her eyes or denounced her and she got her eyes removed. Since then she is the saint patron of blind people.

In our traditional celebration, a young woman of the family wears a white dress with a red ruban carrying a crown of candles. She is usually followed by the other children of the family.

Animal of the week: Moreton Bay Bug

As you know we live on the Moreton Bay (coast of Brisbane) and Australians have named this specie of slipper lobster or flathead lobster after these waters even if it can be found in all Pacific and Indian Oceans. Other species of bugs include the Balmain Bug.

Comme vous le savez, nous vivons au bord de Moreton Bay (côte de Brisbane) et les Australiens ont nommé une espèce de "homard pantoufles" (C'est toi la pantoufle...) ou "homard à tête plate" après ces eaux même s'ils sont répandus dans tout l'Océan Indien et Pacifique. Une autre espèce de "Bug" (= bestiole) est le Balmain Bug.

They don't have claws and some species cannot perform flip-tail what would allow them to "swim" and escape from predators. Instead evolution has given them a large flat head and antennas shaped into shovels to bury themselves in the sand to hide what gives them the nickname of "Shovelnose Bug", "Sandbug" or "Mudbug"... Of course Aussies have given them plenty of nicknames such as "Flying saucer" or "Flapjack" (=pancake).

Ils n'ont pas de pince et certaines espèces ne savent pas nager en utilisant leur abdomen pour échapper aux prédateurs. A la place l'évolution leur a donné une large tête plate et des antennes en forme de pèles pour s'enterrer dans le sable ce qui leur vaut le surnom de "Bestioles à nez de pèle", "bestiole des sables" ou "bestiole de boue"... Les Australiens leur ont donné encore d'autres surnoms tels que "soucoupe volante" ou "crêpe".

Australia is in a shortening of Santa Claus for this season!!! Is it here too warm for Santa or is he on holiday?
L'Australie est en pénurie de Pères Noël pour cette saison !!! Fait-il trop chaud pour lui ou est-il en vacances?

All shopping centres are advertising and are inviting women, multi-cultural people and people from all age to register as Santa to earn good money and be rewarded with smiles (or cries)... I'm so curious to see the result...
Les Centres commerciaux font beaucoup de pulicité et invitent les femmes, les personnes de provenance d'autre cultures et personnes de tout age de s'enregistrer en tant qu'acteur "Père-Noël" en échange d'un bon salaire et de sourires (ou de pleurs...) Je suis curieuse de voir le résultat!

Animal of the week: Echidna

There are very special animals in Australia and we know how keen you are to know more about them. Originally we wanted to see all of them with our own eyes before writing about them but we realised that it takes time and plenty road trips. Never the less we decided to do our best to write a weekly post: "Animal of the week".

Il y a vraiment des animaux speciaux en Australie mais avant de les voir tous il nous faudra beaucoup de roadtrips. Nous avons décidés de faire de ntre mieux pour écrire "l'Animal de la semaine".

The Echidna:

We haven't seen any in the wild yet. We just cross road signs informing us about their presence. When volunteering at the zoo I had the opportunity to feed a female echidna. Believe me they are fascinating with a great sense of smell. They can live to 45 years old.
This mammal is in the family of Monotreme, ancient branch of the evolution leading to marsupials. Yes those "tapir-hedgehogs" have a poach to carry and breast feed their "puggle" (= baby echidna) but what is very special is that females lay eggs into that poach. It's a "tapir-hedgehog-kangaroo-chicken"!

On n'en a pas vu à l'état sauvage, seulement des panneaux. Au zoo, en tant que bénévole, j'ai eu l'occasion de nourrir une femelle. Ils sont fascinants! Ils peuvent vivre jusque 45 ans.
Ce mammifère est de la famille des Monotremes, une ancienne branche de l'évolution qui tend vers les marsupiaux. Oui, ces "tapir-hérissons" ont une poche dans laquelle le "puggle" (= petit echidna) est porté et nourri. Ce qui est vraiment spécial est que la femelle pond un oeuf dans sa poche. C'est un "tapir-hérisson-kangourou-poulet"!

Habitat & diet:

Most widely mammal in Australia and it can be found in New Guinea spread from dry deserts to wet mountains. They don't like to be hot so depending where there live they can become nocturnal (what is the case in Queensland) and burrow in colder soil.
C'est le mammifère le plus répandu en Australie et on peut en trouver en Nouvelle Guinée. Ils vivent dans tous les habitats: des déserts aux forêts. Ils n'aiment pas la chaleur et en fonction d'où ils vivent décident de devenir nocturnes (c'est le cas au Queensland) et de s'enterrer.

Echidnas have a huge tong to catch as many termites as possible or they use their strong claws.
L'echidna a une énooorme langue et de puissantes griffes pour attraper des termites.

The train of love:

When the breeding season starts (in winter) males queue behind and follow one female for weeks until she is ready. A train is formed reaching up to 11 echidnas.
Lors de la saison des amours (en hiver) les males suivent une femelle en file pendant des semaines jusqu'à ce qu'elle soit prête. Ce train peut atteindre jusqu'à 11 individus.

Commonwealth Games 2018 (The Empire strikes back)

Ce weekend, la nouvelle vient de tomber: Le Queensland (sur la Gold Coast) va organiser les Jeux du Commonwealth 2018 (Nos Jeux Olympiques). Youhou!
The news just arrived this weekend: Queensland on the Gold Coast (next to Brisbane) will host the Commonwealth Games 2018 (our Olympics). Great!

What is Commonwealth? Official Website

Here is the list of the 54 members of the Commonwealth of Nations. They are mainly former British colonies. It is not a political union but just an international organisation working on common goals formed in 1931. Since 1884 they used this concept to react to the fact that the British Empire was changing. Colonies became more independent: such as Australia. The land surface of the Commonwealth is 21% of all land on Earth.
Voici la liste des 54 membres du Commonwealth. Ce sont pour a pluspart des anciennes colonies de l'Empire Britanique. Ce n'est pas une union politique mais une organisation internationale travaillat sur des buts communs depuis 1931. Since 1911, every 4 years teams from all over the Commonwealth are getting united around sport. Here is the list of the 71 teams participating (more teams than members of the Commonwealth...) I'm sure we will see some "old" British wired sports... ;-)

Steve Irwin's day - The Crocodile Hunter

Edward, this post is for you. :-) Today it is the Steve Irwin's Day!!!
Edward, ce post est pour toi. :-) Car aujourd'hui c'est la journée de Steve Irwin!!! ("C'est qui ?" me direz-vous)

"Wow Crikey" would be his most famous quote! +/-"Oh mince" est sa phrase favorite!

Who is Steve Irwin?
(Qui est-ce?)

It was a "colourful" Australian with a strong accent wearing to tight shorts and a khaki shirt. (Shuut, Australians will hunt me down...) He was a great entrepreneur who dedicated his life to rescue wildlife including crocodiles. Together with his family they built the famous Australia Zoo/rescue centre in Queensland (not far from home). He taught the world his enthusiasm for wildlife with his sensational TV shows such as "The Crocodile Hunter", "The 10 deadliest snakes in the world" and "Croc Files" including some movies and series staring his young daughter, Bindi. He even made the voice of the elephant seal in "Happy feet".
He wanted to touch all most deadliest animals on Earth to show that we should appreciate them and not kill them. He made Australia's wildlife famous.

C'était un Australien extravagant avec un accent prononcé qui portait des shorts trop petits et des chemises couleur khaki. (Shuuut, les Australiens vont me déscendre...) C'était un formidable entrepreneur qui a dévoué sa vie à la protection animalière. Avec sa famille il a construit The Australian Zoo qui était son refuge pour animaux blessés (C'est près de chez nous). Il a éduqué le monde sur les merveilles en Australie et d'ailleurs avec ses émissions: "Le chasseur de corcodiles", "Les 10 plus dangereux serpents au monde", il a fait des films où sa fille, Bindi, vivait avec les animaux. Il a même fait la voix du morse dans "Happy Feet". Il approchait et touchait tous les animaux dangereux pour montrer au monde qu'il faut les apprécier et non pas les tuer. Il a contribué au tourisme en Australie.

The Shock!

Australia was in shock when he died in 2006 at the age of 44 killed while doing what he loved the most, touching dangerous animals: A stingray harpooned him in the heart while filming a documentary. With his lifestyle he predicted his own death at the age of 40 yr. (Sadly some ridiculous fans started to kill stingrays as revenge even though accidents are rare.) Ever since, streets, boats, harbors are named after him.

L'Australie fut sous le choc lorsqu'en 2006 à l'age de 44 ans il est décédé lors d'un accident faisant ce qu'il aimait le plus: toucher des animaux dangereux. Une raie l'a harponé en plein coeur lors d'un tournage d'un documentaire. Il prédisit sa propre mort à 40 ans à cause de son style de vie.  (Malheureusement certains de ses fans ont ridiculeusement commencé à exterminer les raies par vengence alors que les accidents sont rares...) Depuis, les rues, les bateaux et les ports portent son nom.

Sa renommée est internationale. Un Américain- Mexicain, Gabriel Iglesias, a parodié notre héro National! Ce qui me fait rire à chaque fois!

Steve Irwin's Day? Official Website

"Celebrated each year on 15th of November, is an annual international event honouring the life and legacy of the one and only Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin!" He and his family continue to collect funds for wildlife rescue and once a year Australia goes wild (more than usual) and you can find plenty of fancy things to buy...

Tous les ans, le 15 Novembre, c'est la journée internationale célébrant la vie et la mémoire de l'unique "Crocodile Hunter", Steve Irwin! Sa famille continue la collecte de fonds pour la protection animalière et en cette journée, les Australiens deviennent encore plus généreux. Il y a même une multitude d'objets "kitch" à acheter... (Idée de cadeau pour Stijn?)

Looking for a job

Weeks are looong when you don't have a job... I have sent 90 CV's and cover letters in 3 months what means plenty of hours on the computer. So despite what you might be thinking, it was no holidays for me.

J'ai envoyé 90 CV en 3 mois ce qui représente beaucoup d'heures de recherche sur l'ordinateur ce qui n'est pas des vacances.

In the mind of a job seeker

- In my home country, Belgium, I had 50% of positive response on my CV's sent. Recruitment agencies were calling me because they found my profile on the Internet. I could afford being picky. Why don't I have the same reaction here? Pourquoi n'ai-je pas 50% de réponses positives par CV envoyé comme en Belgique?

- Is the market ok? It seems so... Australia is one of the safest market after global financial crisis and European troubles... Pourtant le marché Australien est stable en ce temps de crise. 

- Am I at the right place? Hmmm Brisbane is the 3rd largest city in Australia and is not the International centre as Brussels was in Europe. New technologies, advertising and data management are often managed in Sydney or Melbourne so the few companies here might invest on "safe" candidates. Queensland is looking for candidates with mining industry or road work project management experience... Est-ce que Brisbane est le meilleur endroit? Ce n'est pas International comme Bruxelles en Europe. Sydney et Melbourne sont plus grand. Ici ils cherchent dans le domaine minier et voierie...

- Is it the right time? I had to push recruiters to have meetings with them and they told me that it is an early drop in the job market because of Christmas slowdown... Don't tell me that I will not work before 2012?! On se rapproche de Noël et il y a une diminution des offres... Ne me dites pas que je ne vais pas travailler avant 2012?!

-  Do I have the right profile? My profile is not common here: I'm not an all-rounder marketer but not a pure sales, not a junior but no team management experience... Account Manager in an agency needs Media experience.... In Marketing/Sales the competition is very aggressive and you need to "go and get that job". You need to make a campaign for yourself and call every 5 days for follow up... Je ne corresponds pas à leurs normes que pour êre dans le pure marketing ou dans la pure vente. Account Manager en agence nécessite une expérience dans les medias. La concurrence est rude où on doit faire une campagne pour soi-même et appeler tous les 5 jours.

I continually modified and personalised my CV and Cover letter to reach Australian standards until I got more reactions. I started doubting about myself and about my choices. Should I study again? I got disappointed, sad, frustrated but I read everywhere the same stories about people advising to keep looking, to stay positive and be patient. When I wanted to change my mind and do something fun during the day: stand up paddling, wind surfing, volunteering at the Zoo, I felt guilty to not be in front of the computer.

Le doute s'installe sur mes choix. Devais-je étudier? Combien de fois dois-je encore modifier mon CV et ma lettre de motivation? Je deviens déçue, frustrée mais je lis partout qu'il faut tenir bon et rester patient. Lorsque je veux me changer les idées en faisant du surf, planche à voile ou du volontariat au Zoo alors je me sens coupable de prendre du bon temps.

If it continues, I will sell Belgian waffles and Belgian chocolate... Si ça continue je vais finir par vendre de gaufres et des chocolats Belges.

Australia Fair Work

I got an offer after 5 CV sent (in August 2011) as "Project Coordinator" which I declined because the contract looked fishy... In Australia they have the "Fair Work statement" (http://www.fairwork.gov.au/) Rules in application since 2010 about 10 minimum National standards all employers need to give to their employees and this contract had too many hours, less sickness days, termination of employment in my disadvantage, they manipulate the number of employees to stay in a category where my probation period would last 1 year (4 rules out of 10 were not correct).... And they told me to sign this bad version before they write the new one what was too strange for me.

J'ai reçu une offre après 5 CV envoyés mais en comparant avec les standards Nationaux (Fairwork) en pratique depuis 2010 que chaque employeur doit au minimum donner à ses employés: 4 des 10 règles n'étaient pas aux normes (heures, jours maladie, terminaison du contrat, période d'essai). Ils m'ont demandé de signer cette version en attendant une nouvelles. Heuu... Je ne crois pas non!

Did I make the right choice knowing that I have not received any other positive reactions? Ai-je fait le bon choix?

I have got a job!!!

Finally, my latest 1 page cover letter and 3 pages CV are paying off. I had more interviews and I received a perfect offer to work as a "Marketing Analyst" in a fundraising organisation in a Hospital in Brisbane. I'll be involved in database management, reporting and provide marketing recommendations. Yes! The contract is clean and with many advantages. I will start on the 23rd of November. I have a job for Christmas! I can now enjoy few days of true holidays!

J'ai décroché un job avec un contrat en or pleins d'avantages en tant que "Analyste Marketing" pour une oeuvre caritative pour un hôpital. Je commence le 23 Novembre, j'ai donc un boulot pour Noël! Je peux enfin arrêter de chercher. Yes!

Melbourne Cup 2011: An historic thriller!

Today is THE ONE and only event of the year that stops the entire country: The Melbourne Cup horse race. Aujourd'hui se déroule l'évènement qui paralyse le pays tout entier: La course de cheval, la Melbourne Cup.
People stop working, bars and restaurants are full all day long for a 3 minutes race happening in another state. Are they crazy? Les gens arrêtent de travailler, les bars et restos sont pleins pour une course de 3 mintues qui se passe dans un autre Etat. Sont-ils foux?

We are not used in our culture to races or gambles. So what is the big fuzz about it in Australia?
Nous ne sommes pas habitués dans notre culture de parier sur des courses. Alors quel est le big deal en Australie?
- Is it because Australians are addicted to gambling? Est-ce parce qu'ils sont accroc au jeu?

The answer is YES and YES! La réponse est OUI!

To not be judgmental we gave it a chance to know more about it. Stijn got involved at work where they party all day wearing hats (not bad) and I followed it on TV.
Afin d'éviter de juger sans connaître nous avons décidé de lui donner une chance. Stijn fait la fête au boulot avec port du chapeau obligatoire et moi j'ai suivi l'évènement à la TV.

2011: Melbourne Cup soap

Wow what a race! First, jokeys have been disqualified at the last moment because of a misbehaviour during practice so they flew in a new jokey from France at the last moment. Then the favourite horses didn't start as expected and the ones expected to give tempo were behind.
Finally, the winner horse, Dunaden, with the backup jokey (Christophe Lemaire) who didn't train this horse won with the closest finish in the history of the Melbourne cup. They decided on this picture that the top one won the race... from a nose hair.

Quelle course, une vraie série à rebondissement! Des jokeys se font disqualifier lors des entrainements au dernier moment et ils ont du faire venir un nouveau jokey Français par avion. Les chevaux favoris prennent un mauvais départ, les chevaux qui donnent le rythme ne sont pas en position... Et finalement, le cheval gagnant, Dunaden, monté par le nouveau jokey (Christophe Lemaire) qui n'a pas travaillé ce cheval, remporte la course avec le plus petit écart de l'histoire de la Melbourne Cup. Ils se sont basés sur cette photo pour définir le vainqueur... Ouaw, à un poil de nez près!

It started with the paperwork and the huge number of phone calls before we left Belgium for Queensland. We had to spell Stijn's names so many times.

Australians have no idea how to write or pronounce any of his names... "Stijn De Lathouwers" which is a beautiful name full of Flemish family history: Augu(stin) the carpenter/ timberman.

Since we are overseas, we sometimes have strange results:

-  An aristocratic "Stagn":

- Oh My... look at this one from our Internet provider Optus: Nothing is correct... It is not a joke!!!

To make life easier for everybody:
- We put things under my name when we can even though they are not always sure how to write "Nina"... Really?!
- Or he spells his name as "Stan". We haven't tried "Stain" yet which is closer in pronounciation but probably not good for his image. ;o)
And this one time Stijn booked a restaurant under "Roger"!!! Where did it come from?!

We found in some expatriation guidelines that we should adapt names to the new country if it is difficult for locals. Therefore many Asian names are transformed to help in the integration.

Help us finding a name that would suit him and we will try it out. We will let you know about the general reaction ;o) What do you suggest?

Tout a commencé avec la partie administrative liée à notre immigration vers l'Australie et depuis ça arrive à chaque rencontre avec une tierce personne. Nous avons du épeler le nom de Stijn un nombre incalculable de fois.

Les Australiens n'ont vraiment aucune idée de comment écrire ou prononcer ses noms... "Stijn De Lathouwers" ( à prononcer Stèin De Lat-h-owers) un joli nom chargé d'histoire familiale de Flandre: Augu(stin) le charpentier/ poseur de lattes.

Ici, nous avons parfois droit à un noble "Stagn" (voir photo plus haut) ou notre fournisseur d'Internet qui a une manière originale d'écrire son nom "Spijm Ve Laphouwers"... Ce n'est pas une blague!!!

Afin de faciliter la vie à tous:
- Nous passons commande sous mon nom lorsque c'est possible. Même s'il arrive qu'ils ont un doute de la façon à écrire "Nina"... Vraiment?!
- Ou il se présente en tant que "Stan". Nous n'avons pas encore essayé "Stain" ce qui est le plus proche phonétiquement mais ça veut dire "tache"... Peut-être pas bon pour son image... ;o)

Un jour, Stijn a réservé un restaurant sous le nom de "Roger"!!! M'enfin, d'où est-ce que ça lui est venu?!

En lisant un guide à l'expatriation, il y est noté qu'on devrait adapter les noms si ça pose problème aux locaux. Pour cette raison beaucoup de noms asiatiques sont transformés pour faciliter l'intégration.

Aidez nous à trouver un nom qui lui convienne et nous vous tiendrons au courant de la réaction générale. ;o) Quelle est votre suggestion?

The move: patience!

[Part 1: The move from Belgium]

Our belongings left our Belgian home on the 24/05 and arrived in our Australian home the 30/08. It must have travelled 2 times around the globe... I don't complain: It is here and it was the cheapest option!
Nos affaires ont quitté notre maison belge le 24/05 et sont arrivées à notre maison australienne le 30/08. Nos caisses ont du faire 2 fois le tour du monde... Je ne me plains pas: C'est arrivé et c'était la solution la moins chère!

That's it?  Almost 30 years of memories for 2 persons are in those few boxes! On the other hand it is just material. We feel rich from our experiences and all the people we met what is priceless.

Ce n'est que ça? Ces quelques caisses contiennent  près de 30 ans de souvenirs pour 2 personnes! D'un autre côté ce n'est que matériel. On est riche de par nos expériences et des personnes qui ont croisé notre route, ce qui n'a pas de prix.

We can finally stop eating from carton plates and using plastic knives!!! Woohooo. We can even use 4 pans to cook 3 eggs. Why? Because WE CAN!

Nous pouvons enfin ne plus manger dans des assiettes en carton avec des couverts en plastic!! Youhou (voyez comme c'est différent d'une langue à l'autre) On peut même cuire 3 oeufs dans 4 poêles. Pourquoi? Parce qu'ON PEUT!!!!

Welcome home Movie and Penny

30 September 2011 (ok There is a delay in posting 'cause I set my priorities on job hunting /J'ai du retard dans mes posts... Je mets la priorité sur la recherche de boulot)

Our cats are home after 4 months of separation.
Nos chats sont arrivés après 4 mois de séparation.

We keep them inside the first week or two to get used to our surrounding. They are already very interested about the parrot (pale-headed Rosella) coming on our terrace...

On les garde à l'intérieur une semaine ou deux pour qu'elles s'adaptent à la maison. Elles sont déjà très intéressées par les perroquets (pale-headed Rosella) qui viennent sur la terrasse...

Now that they have their double bells around their neck (to not catch any precious wildlife), they are free to discover our garden.

Maintenant qu'elles ont leurs doubles clochettes autour du coup (pour ne pas attraper la faune locale), elles sont autorisées à partir à la découverte du jardin. Penny est stressée, elle garde la bouche ouverte pour se refroidir.

Movie discovering

Since then everything is ok. We just have to make sure they are kept inside during the night to avoid hunting and being hunt by big feral cats. A big black and white male is kicking the *** of all cats in the street. Our cats are more than 2 times smaller and have no chance against him. They still enjoy being out enjoying the sun.  

Depuis tout va bien. On doit juste s'assurer de les garder enfermées la nuit pour éviter de chasser et de se faire chasser... par les chats sauvages par exemple. Un gros chat noir et blanc attaque tous les chats du quartier. Nos chats sont 2 fois plus petites que ce gros matou, elles se prennent donc une bonne raclée ce qui ne les empêche pas de profiter du beau temps.

Before we left Belgium, Penny brought us home 1 to 2 "living" mice a day what was not that fun while we were in carton boxes. It took me up to 8 hours to catch one and free it back outside. I knew this instinct would not disappear but now she brings us lizards and frogs... Until now I succeeded to put them safely back outside. Does anyone have an idea how to make her stop hunting?

Penny, avant notre départ, nous rapportait 1 à 2 souris "vivantes" par jours ce qui n'était pas la joie lorsqu'on était dans les cartons et qu'il m'a fallu 8h pour en remettre une dehors... Je me doutais bien que cet instinct n'allait pas disparaitre... Mais ici, elle nous ramène des lézards et des grenouilles. Jusqu'à présent je les ai tous remis en vie dehors. Quelqu'un aurait-il une idée comment le lui faire arrêter?
