The news just arrived this weekend: Queensland on the Gold Coast (next to Brisbane) will host the Commonwealth Games 2018 (our Olympics). Great!
Here is the list of the 54 members of the Commonwealth of Nations. They are mainly former British colonies. It is not a political union but just an international organisation working on common goals formed in 1931. Since 1884 they used this concept to react to the fact that the British Empire was changing. Colonies became more independent: such as Australia. The land surface of the Commonwealth is 21% of all land on Earth.

Ce n'est pas une union politique mais une organisation internationale travaillat sur des buts communs depuis 1931. Ce concept a été créé en 1884 en réaction aux changements au sein de l'empire, les colonies devenant de plus en plus autonomes: comme l'Australie par exemple. Le Commonwealth s'étend sur 21% de la surface de terrestre sur notre planète.

Since 1911, every 4 years teams from all over the Commonwealth are getting united around sport. Here is the list of the 71 teams participating (more teams than members of the Commonwealth...) I'm sure we will see some "old" British wired sports... ;-)
Ils ont même leurs propres jeux où 71 équipes se mesurent tous les 4 ans. (71 équipes pour 54 membres?!). On va avoir droit à des sports "anciens"...
